History of the salon
It all began with an opportunity. The opportunity to take over a small salon in Mission Hills that Ian and Season McKesson were working at. They jumped at the chance and turned around the business and the feeling of the space. Mary Jane salon had already existed through Scott Smith for about 10 years when we got our chance to man the helm.
Through a lot of learning and hard work, we managed to make Mary Jane Salon a staple in the MH community for our own 10 years! During the uncertainty of the pandemic and how hard it hit the California Salon industry, we made the difficult decision to shut down this location in July 2020.
We met a lot of amazing clients and friends throughout or years there, many of which still make the drive to Fallbrook to continue seeing us. We will always be proud of our first business and all the memories we made there.
History of the North
Mary Jane North is the second salon started by Ian and Season McKesson and was founded in 2013 in Fallbrook, Ca.
An opportunity presented itself in Fallbrook when Season went looking for a chair to rent. Quickly the conversation changed to taking over the entire space, which was not even on our radar at the time. We had zero clientele in Fallbrook and spent all of our time working down in Mission Hills at our original location, Mary Jane Salon.
We took the plunge anyway and opened the doors before we even had our first client! Fortunately, we quickly made some headway and the community embraced us. The salon has come a long way, both in the esthetic and culture. We are forever grateful to Fallbrook for making Mary Jane North a bustling center of commerce on Main Ave.
